Genequip proudly inaugurated its new energy-efficient dealership at the Houston Industrial Site, showcasing a state-of-the-art facility designed to serve Guyana’s growing industries. Built on a two-acre plot, the dealership features a 4,000-square-foot showroom, a 14,000-square-foot workshop, a 5,300-square-foot warehouse, and a 650-square-foot training facility. This $1 million investment underscores Genequip’s commitment to providing exceptional service and innovative solutions for its customers.
A Vision for Growth and Innovation
During the opening ceremony, General Manager Schelte van Dijk highlighted the need for improved facilities to enhance customer experience and provide a superior working environment. “We can better serve our customers and support the growing oil and gas sector under these circumstances,” he noted. Proprietor Renger van Dijk added that Genequip’s evolution from serving agriculture and construction to mining, power generation, material handling, and marine equipment reflects its focus on innovation and diversification.
Commitment to Excellence
Genequip remains dedicated to after-sales support, continuously training its staff through partnerships with manufacturers and institutions. Recent collaborations include working with the Government Technical Institute on an apprenticeship program and partnering with Maptal Marine Institute to develop marine industry expertise. These initiatives ensure customers receive reliable and efficient services from a skilled team of 70 employees.
Sustainability and Smart Technologies
The dealership sets a new benchmark in energy efficiency, consuming energy equivalent to a residential property. Features like LED lighting, motion-sensing systems, and insulated walls contribute to reduced energy consumption, with plans to incorporate solar power in the future. Additionally, Genequip is advancing agriculture through partnerships with John Deere and Komatsu, testing smart technologies for sugarcane and rice farming and introducing innovative construction management tools.
The new facility not only symbolizes Genequip’s dedication to serving its customers but also its commitment to sustainable growth and technological innovation in Guyana.
